It's nearly hard to believe that it has been two years since that fateful turn of events and Pokemon GO is now celebrating its birthday with an abundance of the Pokemon that really started it all: Pikachu.

Today, or tomorrow depending on your time zone, is Pokémon Go's 2nd anniversary! July 6th, 2016 brought the launch of our dearly beloved Augmented Reality game, and it is just continuing to grow! On top of that you can say hello to a special "Summer Style" Pikachu, sporting an adorable pairing of a straw hat and sunglasses. We hope this extended period of Pikachu takeover will not affect our Community Day, or Pokémon Go Fest spawns!

None other than Pikachu has joined in to celebrate this momentous occasion, so keep an eye out for Pikachu and Pichu as they will appear more frequently tomorrow (July 6 PT) until July 31. Time sure does fly by when you're having fun! Trainers possessing a gold Pikachu medal will be able to purchase all related items, including a T-shirt and Pikachu ears. As was the case with Mew, Celebi will be the subject of a new Special Research quest. Give it a tan, Niantic, please!
