In a third tweet sent minutes later, Fonda targeted Trump's youngest son, Barron, who is 12.

Many celebrities have said some pretty extreme things about America's immigration laws - specifically, the family separation policy that President Donald Trump is ending with an executive order on Wednesday afternoon - but so far no one has gone as far as "Easy Rider" star Peter Fonda.

Actor Peter Fonda, who's furious over the Trump administration's policy of separating undocumented children from their families at the southern USA border, has apologized for a tweet which said Americans upset with the policy, "should rip Barron Trump from his mother's arms and put him in a cage with pedophiles".

"We should rip Barron Trump from his mother's arms and put him in a cage with pedophiles and see if his mother will stand up against the giant a-hole she is married to", he wrote in all caps.

The actor also tweeted out that he wanted to get 90 million people to protest the policy in the streets of Washington and also at the homes of the ICE agents enforcing the policy.

Fonda is apologizing for his choice of words.

First Lady Melania Trump's office confirmed to The Daily Caller Wednesday that they have notified the Secret Service about actor Peter Fonda's suggestion, in a series of since-deleted vulgar tweets, that Barron Trump should be kidnapped. He then went on to call Mr Trump an expletive before deleting the late-night tweet.

In another tweet, Fonda suggested people opposed to the border policy should track down the addresses of federal agents and "surround their homes in protest", adding: "We should find out what schools their children go to and surround the schools in protest". "FUCK", Fonda tweeted Monday.

Melania's communications director, Stephanie Grisham, gave a statement saying that the post had been pointed out to the Secret Service. It was wrong and I should not have done it.

"The tweet is sick and irresponsible and USSS has been notified", Ms. Grisham told the publication.

He has been a vocal critic of the Trump administration.
