Daria Morgendorffer finally has a reason to smile: Everyone's favorite misanthropic teenager is coming back to the small screen.

The new Daria series now has a working title of Daria and Jodie, following both Daria Morgendorffer and her best friend, Jodie Landon. "These two smart young women take on the world, with their signature satirical voice while deconstructing popular culture, social classes, gender, and race".

With the launch of a new production studio, MTV will reboot a lineup of classics, including acclaimed animated sitcom "Daria", Fox News learned Thursday.

Daria follows a cynical teen outsider during her high school years as she, along with her artsy best friend Jane, deal with idiotic peers and condescending adults. The show is being written by Grace Edwards, who has written for Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Comedy Central's Inside Amy Schumer and MTV's Loosely Exactly Nicole.

MTV's groundbreaking reality series The Real World, about twentysomethings living under one roof, plus the Emmy-winning unscripted series Made, about young people wanting to learn a specialized skill, will also get an update.

The previously announced MTV animated sci-fi series Aeon Flux reboot will also be making a comeback as a live-action series from Teen Wolf creator Jeff Davis.

It may seem odd that MTV wants to outsource its new productions, but network president Chris McCarthy said that most younger viewers are looking to streaming services for content, rather and traditional TV. "With MTV Studios, we are for the first time ever opening up this vault beyond our own platforms to reimagine the franchises with new partners".
