Renowned singer Akon, who's songs include hits like, Lonely, Right Now and Sorry, Blame It On Me, is launching a new kind of cryptocurrency called "Akoin" and it will be available for sale in two weeks in the hope that it will bring more help his Lighting Africa Project, which aims to bring solar power to the whole of Africa.

Akon is now heavily involved in humanitarian projects, having set up Lighting Africa - a project to bring solar power to Africa - in 2014.

In fact, he wants to create an entire community where Akoin is used, and he'll call it Akon Crypto City, which he feels will allow users to earn, spend and save without the government interfearing.

According to Page Six, he told an audience at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity that his proposed cryptocurrency - dubbed AKoin - could be "the saviour of Africa in many ways" because of how secure it would be.

However, building a "Crypto City" might not be Akon's only odd plan for the future.

He did, however, have a lot to say about his possible presidential run and the ways in which he would handle Donald Trump and even Kanye West.

An "Akon Crypto City" is now being developed on 2,000 acres of land that was given to Akon by the President of Senegal and will be "a first of its kind 100% crypto-based city with Akoin at the center of transactional life".

When asked technical questions about blockchain technology at Cannes, Akon deferred them to "the geeks", saying that he comes to the table with the concepts.

"It's gonna be entertaining, it's gonna be something worth watching", he said about a potential debate. And the debate stage will be set where it's all about me. The way I look at it, win or lose, at least I get the movement going, I get the conversation going. "Like 'No motherf-ker, you're a liar'".
