"The chances of Porter making it to No. 8 are dwindling, with reports of multiple teams ahead of the Cavs considering him - including the Sacramento Kings at No. 2".

Porter invited certain teams with picks in the lottery to examine him Friday. "And then people took that and kind of ran with it, saying, you know, my hip was injured, I couldn't get out of bed". None of that was really true.

Even though the Missouri product played in just three games due to a back injury, many project him to be selected in the top-five of the draft. Porter also remarked that he was "an immediate impact guy", and that he "doesn't want it to take long to be one of the best players in the National Basketball Association". Porter could supply an athletic scoring punch on the wing that Dallas now lacks. "The risk of re-injury as well as background intel on his personality may continue to give some teams pause".

The draft will begin at 7 p.m. ET Thursday. Many think they will opt for Luka Doncic, but guys like Marvin Bagley III and Michael Porter Jr. should also be in the mix.

The Los Angeles Clippers gained an assortment of interesting pieces from the trades of Chris Paul and Blake Griffin to the Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons, respectively.

Ringer NBA reporter Kevin O'Connor writes that Porter is a "tall, athletic forward who can drain shots from anywhere, but must hone his ball handling to reach his scoring potential." Still, it may be wishful thinking to believe that the 6-foot-10 forward will be available that late in the draft.
