Warner To Play In CPL 2018

The former Vice Captain of Australian cricket team David Warner is ready to get featured in the upcoming season of Caribbean Premier League.

According to a CPL media release, Warner has been signed by St Lucia Stars as a replacement of his compatriot D'Arcy Short, who will be playing for Australia A during their tour of India at the same time.

"David is arguably one of the greatest batsman of the modern era and a winning player", Stars general manager Mohammad Khan said.

The 31-year-old is serving a one-year suspension after being involved in a ball-tampering scandal during the Test series in South Africa in March. Find us on Facebook too!

Warner has played in T20 tournaments around the world, but this will be his first appearance in the Hero CPL.

Warner is now serving a one-year ban - along with Steve Smith, who was also stripped of the captaincy - for his part in the scandal in South Africa, while Bancroft is suspended for nine months.

The duo's suspension is limited to representing Australia and domestic competitions within the country, they are free to participate in domestic competitions outside the control of Cricket Australia (CA).

Apart from worldwide cricket Warner and Smith were also removed from the Indian Premier League where they were appointed as captains of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals respectively.

The 2018 edition of the CPL is slated to be held from August 8 and will run till September 16.
