Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has claimed that he rejected the chance to become the new boss of Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane was heavily interested in bringing Hazard to Madrid but after the legendary Frenchman announced that he will be stepping down from the La Liga club from his managerial position there seems to be a stall in negotiations.

Before deciding on Julen Lopetegui, Florentino Pérez weighed up several different candidates for the coaching job at Real Madrid. I did speak to Florentino, but I turned the offer down. "Let's just say that I have said yes to Juventus, respecting the agreement that I have struck with the board", he told Sky Sport.

A host of high-profile names were then linked with the Spanish giants, including Allegri, Mauricio Pochettino, Arsene Wenger, and Antonio Conte, while youth team coach Guti was also a dominant presence in the betting market.

Allegri has since won four straight Scudetti with the Old Lady, marking a record seven consecutive Serie A titles in total, while also reaching the Champions League final in 2015-16 where the club lost out to Madrid. We need to improve what we started four years ago, and I'm happy to do it with this group of directors.

Allegri says he is not closing the door on Higuaín's possible departure: "Juve is strong enough to accommodate those who want to leave. Obliging players to stay does more harm than good".

However, in the end Los Blancos revealed that it was in fact Julen Lopetegui who would come in as their new manager after the conclusion of the World Cup.
