Huawei's Mate 20 is a successor to the Mate 10, which launched in Q4 previous year. While the full technical specs, including resolution, of the panel haven't been revealed, it's believed they are flat panels as opposed to curved.

According to a report coming from a Korean website, The Bell, Huawei has already placed orders for 6.9-inch AMOLED panels with Samsung Display.

That timing makes us think about the upcoming Mate 20, as members of this family have traditionally been launched around Q4 of each year.

While the larger display won't be enough to sway iPhone users to switch, it could be a lure for Android fans using other smartphones. In a couple of months, the Galaxy Note 9 will hit stores, with an "Infinity Display" around 6.3-inches big, about as big as the Galaxy Note 8's screen. That's what the unnamed sources behind today's report claim. Also, it is expected to be 0.8 inches larger than the screen of the Huawei P20 Pro.

Given the OLED nature of the panel and its size, it looks like the upcoming smartphone from Huawei will be a flagship device.

Huawei usually launches a flagship under its Mate series during this time period.

Of course, there's bound to be some high-end improvements to make this rumored Mate 20 Pro easier to use.

The Mate 10 Pro also integrates an OLED display. This year, two of the biggest brands in smartphone technology will be unveiling handsets with screen sizes above 6-inches. The brief and ridiculous trend of tablets doubling as smartphones was short-lived, and anyone who handled Lenovo's enormous 6.98-inch Phab Plus will know this type of device isn't for those with dainty hands.
