"I don't know if that can happen, but what I hope is that the national team does its best in the World Cup and that we can come home with the trophy", stated Ronaldo.

The Ceremony will focus on musical acts and take place just 30 minutes before kick-off scheduled for 6pm local time. Once the Opening Ceremony concludes, Russian Federation and Saudi Arabia will kick off the tournament for real.

However, before Russian Federation kicks off against Saudi Arabia, fans should tune in to watch the World Cup Opening Ceremony.

Federation Internationale de Football Association did not comment on whether the song would form part of Williams' performance, saying the set list would be kept as a "surprise".

"I'm so happy and excited to be going back to Russian Federation for such a unique performance".

"I've done a lot in my career, and opening the FIFA World Cup to 80,000 football fans in the stadium and many millions all over the world is a boyhood dream".

Williams will be joined by Russian soprano Aida Garifullina, and - presumably not on vocals - former Brazilian global Ronaldo, who was in the winning team in 1994 and 2002, The Guardian reported.

Fox Sports has the exclusive broadcasting rights to this year's World Cup, meaning you can catch the matches on Fox, Fox Sports 1, and via the Fox Sports GO app.

"I never imagined I would be part of this huge celebration, the World Cup, happening in my own country", the soloist from the Vienna State Opera said.
