Annnd the photos came out just as the Tonys were airing on Sunday night - an awards show that Spacey hosted a year earlier, before his scandal.

It is ironic that Netflix chose to release first-look images from the upcoming sixth and final season of House Of Cards during the Tony Awards, hosted past year by the series' former star Kevin Spacey.

The photos focus squarely on Robin Wright's Claire, who will assume the presidency in the new season after her husband, Frank (Kevin Spacey), resigned. The series also brings back Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Academy Award nominee Patricia Clarkson, Emmy Award Nominee Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver in the sixth and final season.

Spacey, who played the scheming politician during the first five seasons, was sacked after multiple men and women accused him of sexual misconduct in the wake of Harvey Weinstein scandal.

In the behind-the-scenes pics, we see Wright playing Underwood as president, even occupying the Oval Office.

On May 4, the teaser of the season six of the popular showed Robin Wright's Claire Underwood in the president's seat.

From what we understand, the sixth and final season of the hit drama will be a little shorter than usual - eight episodes over the usual batch of ten - when it arrives in the not-so-distant future. Yes, Claire's now taken over after revealing at the end of last season that she was ready to pick up the pieces of her disgraced husband's administration and take on the job herself.

The series, which was created by Beau Willimon, hails from studio MRC.
