Jackie Chan and John Cena are teaming up for a new action movie, after Sylvester Stallone dropped out of the project for undisclosed reasons.

According to Deadline.com, WWE star John Cena has signed on to appear in the yet-to-be-titled Jackie Chan movie now using the working title "Project X", being directed by Scott Waugh ("Need for Speed"). Chan's character teams up with Cena's character, a former Marine, to stop the attackers after discovering that their real plan is to steal a fortune in oil. Scott Waugh is directing from a script by Arash Amel.

Under the working title of Project X Chan is playing the role of a security contractor who is called to the Middle East to extract workers from the Chinese-run oil refinery when it comes under attack.

Cena is also attached to star in Universal Pictures' action thriller The Janson Directive, with Dwayne Johnson on as an executive producer. Cena made his name as a WWE star before starting another career as a movie actor more than a decade ago with "The Marine" in 2006. The second is that folks actually go pay money to see it (unlike Chan's last action movie, The Foreigner, which was mostly ignored despite being a ton of fun).

Cena is repped by ICM Partners.
