The Gamecocks are trying to become the first team all season to win a series at Baum Stadium - the Razorbacks are 34-4 at home this year.

Carson Shaddy drove in four runs, including a three-run double in the seventh inning, and Arkansas beat SC 9-3 in the opening game of a best-of-three NCAA super regional on Saturday night. It was their second win in five games in Fayetteville, matching the total victories by all other teams in 32 games. USC walked only two for the game. Jake Reindl immediately surrendered a walk, a grand slam and then a solo home run as the Razorbacks quickly fell in a six run deficit.

"I kind of blacked out whenever I was running the bases and don't remember what happened", said Tolbert, who whacked a breaking pitch out. "This is what I've been waiting my whole life for, to play in this moment".

LT Tolbert and Madison Stokes each had home runs for the Gamecocks with Stokes making it 3-all in the sixth. He has great stuff. He hit out into the wind.

The 2-1 lead held until the five-run fifth.

With their season on the line, they played arguably their best offensive game and now get another shot at taking down the No. 5 overall seed Arkansas Monday at 7 p.m. EDT. I think we've matched up well with them all year, despite only winning two of the games so far. "They've been real resilient".

"We have all the confidence in the world".

Martin's multi-hit effort was his team-leading 25 of the season while Shaddy had his 15 multi-hit game of the season and 14 outing with at least two RBIs. He made it just 4⅓ innings, giving up 6 hits and inexplicably walking 4.

Morris, a sophomore right-hander, was removed after five innings, allowing just one unearned run on four hits (all singles).

SC head coach Mark Kingston said the free passes issued by his pitchers were the difference in Game 1 and that it was a similar story Sunday.

The only run Arkansas managed against Morris was the result of three errors. At that point, the Diamond Hogs had 4 hits, all singles. "Got two strikes on him and then we just left a ball up that he put a good swing on".

Prior to the breakout fifth, the Gamecocks scored once in the first with three singles off starter Kacey Murphy and Row delivering a two-out RBI.

"It always feels good to jump out on a team like that", Row said.

"It says they're good". Murphy had averaged 1.6 walks per nine innings all season. He also gave up a homer in the third and was eventually taken out after issuing his fourth walk of the day in the fifth inning.

"He just really didn't command anything", Van Horn said. "A lot of borderline pitches early he didn't get and probably a little frustration going on there". The lead didn't last long as Arkansas scraped together two runs on only one hit in the bottom of the frame. That is after he took a ideal game into the seventh inning against them in April. Coach Dave Van Horn insisted Sunday that he has faith in Campbell. "They've realized this is a marathon and we've had some bumps in the road, but the one thing you can control is you come out and give it everything you've got and I knew that would be the case".

"I feel fine with Isaiah. Hopefully he'll give us some innings".

Mlodzinski has not pitched against Arkansas this season. Three pitches later it was 6-1. "We'll be all hands on doubt about it".

Kingston did not name a starter for the Gamecocks, but did indicate that it would be one of these two freshman right-handers: Carmen Mlodzinski (3-5, 4.84 ERA) or Logan Chapman (3-3, 5.64 ERA).

Second baseman Carson Shaddy, Arkansas' hero the previous night, hit a two-run homer in the sixth.

-Sunday's game drew 11,481 fans, which is the fifth-highest actual attendance in Baum Stadium history.
