On that note, Trump has responded to De Niro's comments via Twitter. On Tuesday, De Niro apologized for "the idiotic behavior of my president" in a speech at the groundbreaking of a restaurant in Toronto, CNN reported. He continued, "I watched him last night and truly believe he may be 'punch-drunk'".

Ahead of the 2016 presidential election, De Niro said he'd like to "punch [Trump] in the face".

Specifically, Trump hit back at actor Robert De Niro over his pretty succinct slam of Trump during Sunday night's Tony Awards.

President Trump defended himself against De Niro's attack by praising the economy under his watch. During the opening ceremony, the actor apologized - not to Trump, but for him.

Hell, we're certain that Trump couldn't give a crap about having flawless grammar and it should be noted that De Niro did take the first verbal shot in their recent war of words, but if you're ever going to have a pop at someone's intelligence, make sure that you get it right on your own end. Trump called Trudeau "meek" and "dishonest" for saying, after Trump left early, that he would impose retaliatory tariffs on the response to tariffs Trump slapped on Canada.

De Niro said Trump's remarks were a "disgrace". "Wake up Punchy!" The President tweeted while on Air Force One, as he flies back to the United States following his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
