It's the game that's taken over households. Once the game's announced, fire up your Switch, head to the eShop and you should find a Fortnite on Switch download there.

"She was so hooked to the game she wouldn't even go to the toilet", the child's mother said, via the Daily Mail.

She is also said to have wet herself rather than pause the game.

According to a report by The Mirror, the parents first noticed signs of addiction after she wet herself during a 10-hour long binging session on the survival game developed by Epic Games.

The game has been one of the most popular in the world in the previous year or so, with 40 million downloads.

A NINE-year-old Fortnite lover is reportedly in rehab to deal with her addiction to the game. A player's aim is to collect items while remaining in the safe zone, away from the storm which gets bigger, and to be the sole person left standing.

The child's addiction became so severe that she lashed out at her dad when he tried to confiscate the Xbox console.

But experts fear many children are at risk of developing mental health problems as a result of over-exposure to violent and addictive video games.

"I found her backside was red-raw".

The mum said: "Our daughter told us it could be some extras she'd paid for on Fortnite".

The girl is now recovering with rehabilitation.

Fortnite is immediately available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and both Android and Apple iOS devices.

The parents limited her playing time to one hour during weekdays and two hours during the weekends.

The initial game is free, but there are many in-game extras that can be purchased.

Metro.co.uk has contacted maker of Fortnite, Epic Games, for comment.
