The stunning show helped Saini to earn his maiden call-up from the national team. Taking a dig at their comments, Gambhir took to Twitter and shared a piece of his mind.

Gambhir's tweet appears to be a fiery response to the long-standing criticism over his backing of Saini, who hails from Karnal in Haryana, and subsequent induction into Delhi's cricket team five years ago - which both Chauhan and Bedi had objected to, with the former claiming that Gambhir and several other senior Delhi cricketers had forced the DDCA selection panel to draft in Saini. Am told black armbands are available in Bangalore too for INR 225 per roll! Even before Saini had bowled a ball, the DDCA selection committee had expressed their disapproval at his presence in Delhi's playing XI, and some members were at the ground to display it. But seniors in the team like Gautam bhaiya never let me feel that pressure.

Bedi, who has been Gambhir's fierce critic on and off the field, had then questioned how an outsider could get into the Delhi team. "Gautam bhaiya told me 'Jaise tennis ball se dalta hai, waise hi dal".

One's demise is another person's delight'- Mohammed Shami failed the Yo-Yo Test and was ruled out of India's upcoming match versus Afghanistan, which starts on June 14 at the M Chinnaswamy. Gambhir after watching him bowl for 15 minutes had decided that Saini was a rare talent, who should be groomed properly.

Saini rose to prominence in domestic cricket after a breakthrough season with the Delhi Ranji team, which finished runners-up to Vidarbha.

There were people who witnessed how Gambhir literally lost his cool during the net session when despite his repeated insistence, a Delhi selector (a distinguished former India opener) didn't even make a passing glance at Saini's bowling.

"I remember every tiny little thing".

Gambhir finally got his way and Saini played for Delhi against Vidarbha at Roshanara Club in 2013/14 season.

These statements came because Saini comes originally from Haryana and moved from Karnal to Delhi back then on the prompting of Sumit Narwal, who was running Karnal Premier League, where the seamer had performed well.

"In fact, after first few matches, he (Gambhir) said that if I kept working hard at every practice session, I will play for India". He saw in me before I realized myself.

Moreover, when asked Saini on how Gambhir shaped up his career, the seamer said, "I would be nowhere without his support".
