Pistons senior advisor Ed Stefanski is running the search, which is expected to decide on a head coach before Detroit hires a general manager.

The Detroit Pistons reportedly want to continue discussing their vacant head coaching position with former Toronto Raptors coach Dwane Casey and current University of MI coach John Beilein.

All three coaches met with Detroit's front office recently.

Casey and Beilein are coaches with tremendous pedigrees and professional options, and neither has fully committed himself in pursuit of the Pistons opening, league sources said.

However, competing in the playoffs would be a significant improvement for the Pistons after the last two seasons, and Casey has coached in the postseason the last five years.

Casey spent seven seasons as the head coach of the Toronto Raptors, before being let go back in May.

While he doesn't have experience as an National Basketball Association head coach, Beilein has known nothing but success for the majority of his tenure at MI. He has one year remaining on his contract with the Raptors, reportedly worth $6.5 million.

Head Coach Dwane Casey of the Toronto Raptors applauds in the second half of Game Two of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2018 NBA Playoffs at Air Canada Centre on May 3, 2018 in Toronto, Canada.

The Pistons also have interviewed former Milwaukee Bucks coach Jason Kidd, Miami Heat assistant coach Juwan Howard and TNT studio analyst Kenny Smith.
