Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred was at Manchester United's Carrington training headquarters today. Today, Fred is close to joining Man Utd...

United hope to announce the Fred deal in the next 24 hours but Lucescu, who now manages Turkey but worked with the midfielder in Ukraine, says he's "really pleased" the Brazilian is moving to such a big club.

The same article states that Fred made the short trip to Manchester for a medical at the Old Trafford outfit having played in Brazil's 2-0 friendly win over Croatia at Anfield.

The Brazil global arrived at Manchester United's training ground this morning to complete his £52million move to the club.

Fred was heavily linked with a move to Jose Mourinho's side and was given time off from Brazil's World Cup preparations to have his medical at Carrington, which he has been reported to have passed.

Fred has been touted as one of United's prime targets in recent weeks and they emerged as favourites for his signature after rivals Manchester City turned their attention to Napoli star Jorginho.

He has agreed a four-year contract, with the option of an additional 12 months to keep him at Old Trafford, until at least the summer of 2022.
