We've seen Jeep testing the Renegade alongside the 500X for quite some time now, and as it happens, the American model will be the first to go official.

- The teaser image previews the new tail lights with a larger X-motif. If you're living in Europe, a similar taillight design can be seen on another small SUV, the budget-friendly second generation of the Dacia Duster, but with a "+" theme instead of the Renegade's "X".

Under the hood, the India-bound Renegade is likely to come with a 140hp, 2.0-litre diesel and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine with full-time four-wheel drive as optional and two-wheel drive as standard. It is uncertain whether FCA will continue providing the Renegade with an oil-burner since the carmaker will be phasing out diesel powerplants from as early as 2021 from the European market.

The Jeep Renegade will be facelifted in 2019, with light changes to its exterior styling and new technology inside, and with a fleet of new engines confirmed. The refreshed B-segment SUV will get a slight cosmetic update and a revised powertrain in the European market. The Renegade made up 4540 of these - more than 70% of Jeep's total United Kingdom sales for the year.

Jeep has announced that the 2019 Jeep Renegade will have its world premiere at the 2018 Torino Motor Show on 6 June, 2018. The new Jeep Compass, a Nissan Qashqai rival, is also pivotal to the brand's success. The new model year 2019 will feature a refreshed look and new engines. This will include the upgraded Renegade when it goes on sale in the United Kingdom in 2019.
