Xiaomi Mi 8, the new flagship smartphone which will mark the 8th anniversary edition of Mi phones, will launch on May 31 in Shenzhen, China.

Since Xiaomi will be announcing the MIUI 10 also on May 31, it is expected that the Mi 8 will become the very first Xiaomi smartphone to ship with MIUI 10.

A teaser via GizmoChina has also been shared by Xiaomi on Weibo which suggests that Mi 8 might come with unlocking feature. Earlier this year, the company released the MIUI 9.5 which brought the Android 8.0 Oreo for Xiaomi devices. While there is no official confirmation, the Xiaomi Mi 8 is mentioned to come with 6.01-inch full-screen display and 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. It sports a dual rear camera setup, with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. Although we're still one week away from the launch event, a specs sheet allegedly listing the hardware configuration of the Xiaomi Mi 8 has just popped up online.

As far as leaks go, the Mi 8 is expected to arrive in two variants - 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant which will be likely priced at CNY 2,799 (approximately Rs 30,000) and another variant with 8 GB RAM and 128 storage, priced at CNY 3,199 (approximately Rs 34,000). It will be officially unveiled along with the MIUI 10 in the next few days. Now, the images of the Xiaomi Mi 8 retail box are leaked online. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro comes in a single storage variant - 64GB - which is expandable via microSD card in a hybrid dual-SIM format. As seen it the image, Xiaomi's facial recognition technology is identical to how it works the iPhone X, complete with a front camera, earpiece, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, an infrared lens, a flood illuminator and a dot projector. The processor will be Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, which is a given considering this is the latest flagship and will sport the high-end variant of Qualcomm's latest chipset as well.

The Mi 8 is also said to come with an all-glass and metal body with a notch up-front, and because the Mi Mix 2S already comes with wireless charging, chances are that the Mi 8 would get the support as well. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
