The strong words of Cristiano Ronaldo after the Champions League final were not lost on others at Real Madrid, although everyone is in agreement that they want him to remain.

While his team-mates were celebrating a record-stretching 13th European crown, earned after a gutsy 3-1 victory over Liverpool, Ronaldo was casting doubt over his commitment to the club. With only 99 minutes under his belt in this season's Champions League knockout fixtures prior to Saturday, Bale had a point to prove.

Al-Sheikh used social media to give a message of support to Salah before the final but, in a Facebook post on Sunday, he claimed the 25-year-old's World Cup dream was over - at odds with the EFA's official line. If Ronaldo's bicycle kick at Turin prompted a standing ovation out of Juventus fans, Gareth Bale's stunning goal caused even the otherwise stoic Zidane to express his elation.

"The week after, the club comes back to compete and fight again to win, to win Champions League titles".

However, the football world have stood by Salah who is now doubtful for the 2018 Fifa World Cup with the Pharaohs.

"Who's disappointed? Perhaps they need to change the name of the Champions League to the CR7 Champions League".

"Cristiano likes to be wanted", said Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.

Ronaldo refused to rule out a move when interviewed on TV after the match and said: "In the coming days there'll be answers about my future". I don't speak much, but when I speak, I speak.

"I am not going to in the personal situations of any player because, as he himself says, nothing ever happens".

"Cristiano has to stay, it is either yes or yes", he said bluntly. I'm infinitely sorry to my teammates, for you fans, and for all the staff. "If there's something behind this, he should come and clarify what it is today", Ramos said. "But everybody looks out for themselves and takes care of their own thing, and I understand that".

Ronaldo caused a stir past year a few days after Real beat Juventus 4-1 in the final when Portuguese newspaper A Bola reported that the forward wanted to leave Madrid as he was not happy with how he had been treated by the Spanish club.
