Working closely with the official heraldic authority for the United Kingdom, it was clear Meghan wanted her home state of California to be heavily present in the design.

According to the Associated Press, Duchess Meghan Markle has been presented with a royal coat of arms! The statement noted that Meghan worked closely with the College of Arms to create a design that incorporated her California roots, as well as her new life as a Duchess.

Just yesterday, it was revealed that Meghan now has her own Coat of Arms.

Guests attend the wedding ceremony of Britain's Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and U.S. actress Meghan Markle in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, in Windsor, on May 19, 2018.

The coat of arms also features two "supporters", which are symbolic figures placed on either side of the shield that appear to be holding it up. The duchess' communication skills are also a theme of the design.

The shield's blue background represents the Pacific Ocean while its two golden rays represent California sunshine.

Queen Elizabeth II and Thomas Woodcock, the Garter King of Arms and Senior Herald, approved the new coat of arms.

And that's all lovely and all but yeah, we suppose we jus think the coat of arms looks a bit. angry. The palace explained in a release that a married woman's coat of arms are combined with her husbands on the same shield.

The three quills apparently represent "communication and the power of words".

Traditionally, the coat of arms is given to the bride's father right before the royal wedding - but the decision was made to give it to the Duchess herself.

"Every coat of arms has been created to identify a person, school or organization, and is to last forever", Thomas Woodcock, Garter King of Arms at the College of Arms, said of the creation process in 2011.

He further added, "Heraldry as a means of identification has flourished in Europe for nearly nine hundred years and is associated with both individual people and great corporate bodies such as Cities, Universities and for instance the Livery Companies in the City of London".
