"By incorporating key AI capabilities and performance advancements, the Snapdragon 710 is created to transform our customers products into the ultimate personal assistant, enhancing critical everyday consumer experiences, such as high-end camera features that will benefit from on-device high-speed AI processing, without sacrificing battery life", said Kedar Kondap, vice president, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

The Snapdragon 710 is kind of like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 "light". Qualcomm claims to have used an advanced AI engine along with the support for Snapdragon Neural Processing (NPE) SDK and Hexagon Neural Network to achieve up to 2x overall improvement in terms of AI performance compared to its previous gen chipsets. The company cites photo and voice intelligence capabilities as chief among the 710's offerings, including "virtually effortless" contextually-aware videography and photography.

Capture: The new Spectra 250 ISP allows image capture up to 32MP single ISP and 20MP dual ISP. Additionally, the AI Engine in the Snapdragon 710 supports speedy video style transfer, deep portrait modes and Face ID / Unlock with active depth sensing. It uses derivatives of the high-end cores found in the Snapdragon 845. Streaming video consumes 20% less power.

The Snapdragon 710 SoC features the new Snapdragon X15 LTE modem, a Category 15 LTE modem that is said to support up to 800Mbps download speeds. Lastly, License-Assisted Access (LAA) will bring faster connectivity in congested areas. Qualcomm states that the new SoC will come with "cutting edge Wi-Fi features and enhanced Bluetooth 5 multicast audio with support for ultra-low power wireless earbuds".

The new series of chips, built on a 10nm (nano metre) architecture is expected to boost the device performance by 20 per cent, along with reduced power consumption, especially while watching videos or playing games, the report added. The processor has four high-performance Kryo 360 cores that use ARM A75 technology. Many of these details were previously leaked through a reading of kernel source code from Qualcomm's CodeAurora Forums.

When combined with Quick ChargeTM 4+ technology, Qualcomm says users can charge their batteries up to 50 percent within 15 minutes. The Snapdragon 710 is now available to Qualcomm's customers such as mobile manufacturers and other device manufacturers, and consumer-ready products are expected in the second quarter of 2018.

The GPU goes hand in hand with the CPU and the 710 comes equipped with the new Adreno 616 GPU which promises up to a whopping 35% improvement in graphical performance and 4K HDR playback when compared to the 660 which came equipped with the Adreno 512.
