Along with the latest version of Android, you'll get a whole host of additional features, including an all-new UI.

The update bumps the software version to Shield Experience Upgrade 7.0, which comes with a new home screen that features separate rows of applications and games. As we reported earlier today, Honor has started pushing the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the budget Honor 7X in India. In fact, we're just grateful for it's one of the few brands that are committed to bringing updates to an older device in order to work as if new.

This time around, NVIDIA is finally rolling out one important upgrade: SHIELD EXPERIENCE UPGRADE 7.0.

To check whether the update is available in your region, simply turn on your Shield TV and head to Settings About System Update and follow the on-screen instructions. It was updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow and then Android 7.0 Nougat. With the Oreo update, you can continue watching or playing where you left off. Right on the home screen, you can preview shows from each app or channel. If you still have a Nexus Player sitting around or if you've ever used a TV Guide in the past, you'll be familiar with the interface.

The expensive, geek-friendly Nvidia Shield TV streamer can pretty much do it all, but until now its menu system hasn't been as customizable as those of competitors Apple TV and Roku.

It may be a few days before you see the update, but it is now rolling out.

Aside from content browsing, the Shield Experience 7.0 Update provides an easy way to access your favourite apps and games. You can add and remove apps from your list with a click, and access your full list of apps when you want to do something a little different.

Along with these new features, there are also some more general Android security updates, some firmware upgrades for accessories (like the Shield controllers), and general stability fixes.

Hold Select (or A on the gamepad) on apps to move or remove them.
