Texas School Shooter's Lawyer Looking Into Bullying Charges

In March, a 17-year-old Maryland high school student used his father's gun to kill a female student with whom he had been in a recently ended relationship. "They were just trying to get an education and someone who shouldn't have been able to get their hands on a gun got their hands on a gun", Hernandez said.

In contrast, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott told The New York Times that there were very few warning signs ahead of the shooting, stating that the shooting suspect's "slate is pretty clean". Yet after the high school shooting in Santa Fe, Tex., left 10 people dead last week, the National Rifle Association and other conservative entities have offered a host of reasons for the violence, none of which involve the weapons.

All schools in Santa Fe will be closed today and tomorrow, officials said.

Angelique Ramirez attended Santa Fe's Dayspring Church along with her family.

Gun control activists had complained about the picture of Abbot with the shotgun following the shooting and pressed the governor over the weekend to delete if from the webpage. She says she still hears the bullets and remembers the "fear on people's faces".

"A week later he opens fire on everyone he didn't like", she said. "I wouldn't tell them what to do in that regard at all but them having a space to become civically engaged and to become civic-minded individuals is important", Magnuson said. Trochesset also answered questions about whether the 10 killed and 13 injured might have been shot in the crossfire between the shooter and police.

After the Florida tragedy, President Donald Trump organized discussions on how to prevent school shootings and at least mentioned the idea of limiting gun sales, though little concrete came out of those.

But Shana's story may well have been a big one. Her daughter, Sarah, is recovering from gunshot wounds in the neck and shoulder.

The funeral of Pakistani exchange student Sabika Sheikh was among the first to be held, at a mosque in suburban Houston.

After the shooting, Abbott promised "swift" action to make schools safer, including holding a Tuesday roundtable to discuss the next steps.

Appearing on the Sunday talk shows, Patrick did not address details of the law enforcement investigation into Friday's shooting at Santa Fe High.

The former student who is charged with killing 17 students and faculty members at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in February 2018, was allegedly abusive to an ex-girlfriend and fought her new boyfriend ahead of the shooting - even threatening to kill him. Gun rights proponents say it prohibits regulations on gun ownership and that enforcement of existing laws should be sufficient to stop violent incidents like the one in Santa Fe.

Patrick tells ABC's "The Week" he supports background checks for gun purchasers but stresses "gun regulation starts at home".
