The 29-year-old hasn't played for Manchester City since their Champions League quarter-final defeat by Liverpool on April 10, and Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli has a host of attacking options to choose from before naming his World Cup squad.

The terror group ISIS has threatened, reportedly, to behead 2 famous football players in the current era - Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina's Lionel Messi - at the World Cup.

With less than a month left for the Russian Federation 2018 World Cup (being held from 14 June to 15 July) a new threat, a rather unsafe one, looms over the quadrennial event.

In addition to calling for "lone attackers" to strike at the worldwide soccer tournament, an image from the terror group depicts Messi and Ronaldo pinned to the ground in a stadium with their throats being cut by masked attackers.

The posters are released with a chilling message "The ground will be filled with your blood" and the "Victory will be ours".

The current threat was unearthed by cyber intelligence firm Sixgill, which monitors ISIS digital actions. According to the agency, the poster was released by a pro-ISIS agency on popular chatting application Telegram.

The terrorist group, earlier this month, made their call to supporters in different countries to pick up arms.

In March, ISIS had targeted Messi for the first time in which posters were revealed that showed him kneeling next to a terrorist knocked up behind bars.

"They're already preparing for the next World Cup", the Barcelona forward continued, likely referencing the extension of coach Joachim Löw's contract to the 2022 edition in Qatar.
