For some gamers, their fondest and earliest memories are of long hours and countless quarters spent in a local arcade blasting through their favorite adventures.

Today, 343 Industries has announced the next entry in the Halo franchise called Halo: Fireteam Raven. According to the press release, Halo: Fireteam Raven is now being co-developed by Raw Thrills and Play Mechanix. Narratively, the game takes place during the events of Halo: Combat Evolved, with players taking control of Fireteam Raven, a group of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers who will fight the alien Covenant alongside Master Chief on Alpha Halo.

The cabinet is billed as a massive, 11-foot-cubed, coin-operated machine, housing a 130-inch 4K display and four "turret-mounted, multipurpose machine guns" to shoot at enemy troops and land- and air-based vehicles, including: Hunters, Banshees, and Scarabs. Like in other Halo games, you're squaring off against Covenant creatures.

While it's not the conventional Halo experience, Fireteam Raven plays a tangential role in the series' lore.

Eugene Jarvis, the CEO of Raw Thrills, had a similar response about the partnership and said that Halo: Fireteam Raven was without a doubt the "most spectacular arcade experience" that the company has ever made. "After years of development it is now ready".

Halo: Fireteam Raven will start to show up at Dave & Busters locations in the United States and Canada this summer, with more coming in the fall. Players can also scan a QRC code to upload high scores to the Halo Waypoint online portal and compare with friends.
