Yanny or Laurel: It Sounds a Lot Like the Dress

A viral audio clip is all over the internet.

The debate, which has been compared to a dispute over the [www.abc.net.au/news/2015-02-27/the-dress-social-media-sensation-flips-views-on-colour/6270176 colour of a dress in 2015], had some insisting they heard "Laurel".

Other audio clips have also emerged, shifting the pitch to allow listeners to hear both and understand more about the science behind the illusion.

Alicia Spoor, president of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology, agreed the quality was not good.

"We're not listening to an actual speaker - we're listening to manipulated speech, and that is a bit harder", he said.

Scientists say if you hear Yanny, you are more likely to hear higher frequencies. Just three were caught in between - hearing first one, then the other when played again, or a mix of the two sounds.

Apparently, both sides are correct, according to findings from some Reddit users. He says it sounds like "Laurel".

Even Houston Texans star JJ Watt joined in the debate tweeting, "Yanny vs. Laurel is starting some real fights".

I, however, continue to hear "Laurel".

For an analogy, she cited the 1969 Creedence Clearwater Revival song "Bad Moon Rising:" "There's a bad moon on the rise" versus "there's a bathroom on the right".
