The Backstreet Boys released their new single "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" on Thursday along with an accompanying music video as they celebrate their 25th anniversary. They will also perform at this year's KIIS FM Wango Tango.

"We've had a lot of love from the country world lately, so we definitely explored that and at one point even talked about doing a straight-up country record", he told Entertainment Tonight. Or Lee Ryan from Blue?

The group - whose last album was 2013's In a World Like This - are now planning to tour their new record around the world.

'But at the same time, we've been exploring the EDM world and have done great collaborations with The Chainsmokers and gotten to know Steve Aoki and Zedd, ' he said.

"The minute we heard this song we knew it was special", says bandmate Kevin Richardson in a statement.

The Backstreet Boys' last big chart success came past year with "God, Your Mama and Me", their hit collaboration with country duo Florida Georgia Line.

These guys are readying another leg of their Las Vegas Residency soon - let's hope it sparks off the momentum for a full album (and a world tour).

Produced by Jamie Hartman and Stuart Crichton, "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" is a slice of chilled electro-pop and bears no similarity to Elton John andKiki Dee's hit '70s duet of the same name.
