It's hard to imagine it's been nearly a decade since we saw the beloved classic Zombieland, and with such great writing that lead to creating a true adaptation of the Merc with a Mouth, Rhett Reese and Paul Wenick have made the duo in R-rated action comedy.

And now, a decade later, fans will rejoice as they learn that the original cast are set to congregate for the sequel to Zombieland. Since the release, the trio of Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin have achieved A-list status, leading many to believe getting the band back together would be hard.

Almost everyone involved with 2009's hit zom-com Zombieland has become exponentially more famous since, so it's been understandable that it has taken so long for a sequel.

The super popular horror-comedy Zombieland will be celebrating it's 10th anniversary next year and the writers of the sequel are looking to launch the follow-up in 2019 as well.

Speaking to Vulture, Wernick says, "We're going on the tenth anniversary of "Zombieland".

Wernick added that they will hopefully be able to share more news soon about the sequel, which will reportedly start shooting in early 2019.

The film had a hand in propelling the likes of relatively new actors Stone and Eisenberg into their film careers.

She explained: "I read the script and told my agent I loved it and then I auditioned with a lot of other very cool actresses who probably would have been way better for the part than me".

The writers were dead keen on turning the movie's plot into a TV show and Amazon commissioned a pilot episode in 2013.

'I auditioned with Jesse - we did some improv together.

However, Emma also found the film to be a big challenge, as she'd never previously starred in an action movie. Tyler Ross played Columbus, Kirk Ward played Tallahassee, Maiara Walsh played Wichita and Izabela Vidovic played Little Rock.
