Wednesday lunchtime saw the Hammers release a statement confirming that David Moyes' short-term contract will not be renewed/extended.

David Moyes, Manager of West Ham United looks on prior to the Premier League match between West Ham United and Manchester United at London Stadium on May 10, 2018 in London, England.

Moyes took charge with West Ham in 18th place after a dismal start to the season in which they won two of their first 11 league games. He, Alan (Irvine), Stuart (Perace) and Billy (McKinlay) accepted the challenge and attacked it head on, turning around a hard situation. He took over when they were in the relegation zone and led them to 13th, where they finished nine points clear of the bottom three.

Sullivan reportedly interviewed Shakhtar Donetsk manager Paulo Fonseca on Monday; the same day Moyes' contract with the Irons expired.

"Throughout his time here, David has carried himself with dignity and honesty and we have all found him to be a pleasure to work with". He, Alan, Stuart and Billy accepted the challenge and attacked it head on, turning around a hard situation.

Despite having had jobs in Italy and his native Spain since, his family remained living on the Wirral and therefore if he does leave Newcastle, English clubs will surely be at the front of the queue.

"We feel that it is right to move in a different direction".

"We are already taking steps to identify and recruit the manager we believe can take West Ham United forward in line with our ambitions".

The Chronicle reports that both Everton and Leicester City are keeping tabs on the former Real Madrid boss, while Sky Sports claim he is being shortlisted by West Ham United.

Just like various clubs are said to be interested inn Jamaal Lascelles, no surprise to see Rafa Benitez linked with the now vacant West Ham job.
