Suspect in custody after shots fired at Dixon High School

He said a media staging area will occur around 10:30-11 a.m. this morning at the Peoria Avenue bridge, but the time may change.

The suspect is now in custody, with Dixon PD saying they believe that he acted alone, and that there is no further threat to the public.

A male suspect exchanged fire with a police officer Wednesday morning at a high school in Dixon, Ill. The suspect was injured and has non-life threatening injuries.

No students or staff were injured, Langloss said.

Dixon Police believe the suspect acted alone. Multiple police agencies are on scene. We will bring you more information as it becomes available. He was shot by the school resource officer, according to the report.

The incident has also forced the closure of Peoria Avenue.

Dixon Public Schools officials said high school students were being bused from the Illinois Army National Guard Armory near the school to the baseball fields. Parents can arrive there to pick up their child, and must have an ID to do so.

Dixon police could not comment or confirm if there was a shooting, all they could say is there is no public threat and no threat to students.
