Maradona joins Belarus's Brest as chairman

The former Argentina star has taken over as head of the Belarusian club's board after leaving his most recent coaching job with United Arab Emirates' second division Al Fujairah, in the.

Diego Armando Maradona has been appointed as chairman of Belarusian top tier division side Dinamo Brest, the club announced on Wednesday.

One-time Belarusian Premier League winners Dinamo are now eighth in the league and through to the Belarusian Cup final, where they will meet BATE Borisov next weekend.

"Yes, Diego is with us", the club tweeted.

"Thanks for the trust".

The 57-year-old Argentina legend signed a three-year contract on Tuesday to be the chairman of the board for Belarusian outfit Dynamo Brest, with the club confirming the move. FC Dynamo Brest has been a participant of all football championships of Belarus.

The Argentinean will come to work with the club right after the end of the FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation.

Brest, who won the Belarusian Cup past year and its Super Cup in March, said Maradona will be officially introduced as chairman at Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi.
