Smokey and Remus, the dog buddies, were reportedly getting "rambunctious" earlier this month at their home in Mesa, Ariz.

Remarkable footage filmed in Mesa, Arizona, showed pet Remus jumping into the family pool and using his head to push Smokey out of the water.

When he reviewed the video surveillance of the pool, he saw that the dog was in a risky situation, but fortunately, Smokey had a friend to help.

The family praised their hero Remus for saving his buddy, saying he may "be a insane pup but he's got a heart of gold". She wrote that the two dogs often play near the pool without incident, but added in a comment on the video that she had ordered Smokey a life jacket just to be safe.

The dog is seen treading water, struggling to get out while Remus paces along the side. You see him try multiple times to pull his friend out of the water. At some point, Remus moves slightly to the left, and fighting Smokey is slowly coming to him.

Neither one of the dogs were hurt. My best friend cried when we sent him the video. "She says he's a certified lifeguard now".

Becerra wrote on Facebook that her husband had stepped inside the house for a few minutes and the dogs must have broken through a fence meant to keep them away from the water.
