With the summer transfer window just around the corner, The Grapevine has the very latest football transfer news from the Premier League's top clubs in the round-up below. It wouldn't surprise us to see several of them depart and subsequently be replaced.

When does the window open and close?

Federation Internationale de Football Association rules dictate the window must be open for 12 weeks, therefore the window will close on Thursday, August 9 at 5pm, as opposed to August 31.

In theory, Chelsea could sign Lionel Messi this Thursday and field him in the FA Cup final at the weekend.

This year, Premier League squads will be completed prior to the season kicking off on August 11.

Clubs are able to buy players from any country as long as their own window is open, which means Premier League clubs can still sell players after their window closes on August 9.

According to Sky Sports, there is to be a change in the transfer window dates, where Premier League clubs will now be able to conduct business beginning the 17th of May, and close on the 9th of August.

That's because other leagues have different windows and will still be open.

The window will officially open on May 17 - just four days after the end of the season and means business may also be conducted while the World Cup in Russian Federation is taking place.

Transfers in Spain can be completed from July 2.

The windows in those four leagues will close on August 31.

It opened on Monday, May 7 for domestic transfers. They can also sign free agents up until the same date.
