You can hit the court from 3pm BST on Friday 1st until 11.59pm BST on Sunday 4th June, with the chance to play as Mario, Peach, Yoshi and Bowser in online multiplayer matches in a tournament format. There's a reason for calling it an "online tournament" - and you earn points based on your performance.

The beta will be free to download from May 25th (but won't be playable until June 1st). The objective of the online tournament is to get players from across Japan to try out its tennis battles that come with new aimed shots and acceleration features. Along with the announcement of the dates of the tournament, Nintendo released 2 new videos of its tennis game that you can check out below. Best of all, you'll get yourself Mario's classic overalls look in the full game as a participation prize.

It's not in English, but if you're patient and you pay attention, the latest Mario Tennis Aces trailer from Nintendo Japan has a bunch of fresh information that hasn't been shown yet. Whether battling it out online against other players or polishing their skills against the CPU, all participants will be able to unlock a free additional costume of Mario in his traditional dungarees for use in the full game.
