The two new cast members announced this week are also going to be bad guys, with Corbin Bernsen and Annetto O'Toole cast as a powerful husband and wife who end up on a collision course with Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle.

A premiere date for Punisher Season 2 has not yet been announced. Lightfoot returns as the series' showrunner.

Following the critically-acclaimed spectacle of the first season, The Punisher season 2 looks to be amping up the intensity - at least on the casting front.

Bernsen (Psych, American Gods) will play Anderson Schultz, described as a wealthy man used to getting his way. Pilgrim isn't a character in the comics, so we don't really know what to expect from him. Finally, Giorgia Whigham (theScream TV series) will take on the role of Amy Bendix, "a street-smart grifter with a mysterious past".

With the critical success of The Punisher after its first season, Netflix quickly ordered a second season for the Frank Castle show and rushed it straight into production. Returning regulars from season 1 include Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. the titular Punisher), Ben Barnes as Billy Russo, Amber Rose Revah as Dinah Madani, and Jason R. Moore as Curtis Hoyle. The series is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix. Many people consider it to be the best of the bunch, although I'd slot Daredevil and Luke Cage above The Punisher. Given that these characters all live in the same city and continually cross paths, a more concrete team-up isn't out of the realm of possibility at some point.

The second season of The Punisher now has no premiere date.
