Details of the BMW M5 Competition, a more powerful version of M division's performance saloon, have leaked online ahead of an anticipated reveal next week.

According to a member of Bimmerpost, the hotter M5 will have 460kW of power from its 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, for a 3.3-second sprint to 100km/h and a 10.8-second run to 200km/h.

Top speed wasn't mentioned, but it should be at least 190 miles per hour to be on par with an M5 fitted with the M Driver's Package. There's also revisions to the car's suspension to make things firmer and a lower ride height.

In a post on the site's message boards, a leaker claims that BMW is on the verge of releasing a Competition Package for its Mercedes-AMG 63 S rival, publishing specifications for the hardcore supersaloon and even producing an image of the alleged M5 Competition.

From a design standpoint, Competition cars will be marked out with black badging, black front and side grilles, plus a new lip spoiler on the bootlid and a blacked out rear diffuser. Local pricing is reportedly set to kick off at $229,000 before on-road costs. The "regular" M5 now starts at $199,900 plus ORCs.

The F90 BMW M5 was first revealed in August a year ago, and it looks like a Competition Package for the super sedan is set to be available soon. Stay tuned for all the latest.
