"After the last sitting when it was directed that the IGP should come, the Clerk to the Senate wrote to the IGP".

An unusual quiet was noticed on the floor of the Senate.

The Nigerian Senate has issued the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, a one-week ultimatum to appear before it. I lack what to say, but I wish to apologise for what happened. In the First Information Report fi led by the police against him, he was accused of intentionally breaking the side windscreen of the bus conveying him and jumped out from it. What we have now is that there is no reason for his non-appearance.

Saraki said the IGP has a reputation of not honouring orders.

"Additionally, last time we invited him, he approached a court".

"Something has to be done". He suggested that the Senate President lead a delegation to President Muhammadu Buhari and register their displeasure.

Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki urged lawmakers to exercise patience over the matter.

Today again, the IGP sent Habila, but the lawmakers condemned the action, saying it could jeopardise democracy.

"We need to assist my President because the way things are going, it's quite embarrassing".

Leader of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan moved a motion that the IG of Police be ushered into the chamber.

Saraki also said, "This year alone, there have been over 500 or 600 deaths".

"The Chairman of the Police Committee has said that he is not able to reach him".
