The 41-year-old is now on the world press tour for Avengers Infinity War and revealed something really rather intriguing.

In a recent interview with 14-year-old star Sophia Grace, Cumberbatch discussed a range of teenager-relevant topics.

The Doctor Strange star handled a question about how to deal with bullies with seriousness and sensitivity, calling it "a really, really hard topic" to talk about.

Cumberbatch said: "I had to just, sorta, understand what the context was".

"Sachin Tendulkar would do quite well in fitting the role as Doctor Strange as he is quite extraordinary", said Cumberbatch while mentioning the extraordinary skills of Tendulkar as quoted by Inuth.

"So kinda needed to know what goes on in-between those brackets".

The British actor first played the Marvel Comics character in the film of the same name in 2016, and has reprised the role in Avengers: Infinity War, which hits cinemas worldwide from the 25 April (18).

The Graham Norton Show airs on Friday at 10.35pm, on BBC One.

The actor explained, "I was allowed to read the whole script so I do know what is happening, but I can't tell you about it". "Oh, it was eight years, I believe", he says, as the interviewer notes that the timeline was very controversial among fans.

Benedict Cumberbatch's character of Doctor Strange is a wizard and holds in his possession the Time Stone, one of the Infinity Stones that the villain Thanos is after. With the inclusion of new superheroes in the Avengers story, besides the individual stories of the likes of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Doctor Strange among others, Marvels have engrossed its acolytes across the globe and the much-hyped Avengers: Infinity War is just around the corner.
