Seahawks' Pete Carroll 'Opportunity Still Open' for Kaepernick

But given the way the league has acted toward Kaepernick, it's probably not a good idea to expect that he'll be signing with the Seahawks - or any team for that matter - anytime soon.

But, Carroll appeared on Sports Radio KJR on Thursday and essentially said Colin was still in the mix.

"We're still battling in all areas, we're still looking at all our options".

After Kaepernick's visit was postponed, Seattle signed journeyman quarterback Stephen Morris and brought Austin Davis back into the fold as well.

"We're going to work our tails off to get back to it and be very aggressive and very tough and very physical and bring that back to life for us. The discussion and the opportunity is still open". "That's one area that we're working, there's a number of them, and it's really about the competition thing right now, we're trying to figure out what's best for us". "John's talked to his representation some, but I haven't, so I don't have anything to help you with with that".

"That's what I can't get into", Schneider said via Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. I do think there's a then and there's a now to all this in some regards.

"We don't have any new information on those guys and what's going on. I would love to be part of helping that if we could".

Did you play as many young guys as you wanted to past year? Whether that factors in or not, we'll find out.

Kaepernick made headlines in 2016 by refusing to stand during the pregame anthem as a protest against racial injustice. I wish we would've known more about those guys at this time and got more playtime out of them.

If nothing else, Seattle Seahawks Pete Carroll is an optimist.

Carroll added that he hasn't spoken to Kaepernick about the whole situation.
