Roberta Flack Falls Ill At Apollo Theater, Rushed To Hospital

Roberta Flack is reportedly recovering after she was rushed to the hospital during an event at the Apollo Theater in NY on Friday night (April 20).

The "Killing Me Softly" hitmaker was being honored at the Jazz Foundation of America's annual gala before she was taken to Harlem Hospital, a hospital employee confirmed to the Daily News.

The Grammy Award winning artist is best known for her songs Killing Me Softly and The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, as well as her duets with Donny Hathaway. "She's doing fine but is being kept overnight for observation".

However, TMZ said Flack's medical emergency forced her to cut her performance short.

We're told the 81-year-old singer Roberta was able to leave the stage under her own power. before someone called for the ambulance.

Roberta's team and doctors were concerned due to her age, and also due to a stroke she suffered in 2016.

While the "Killing Me Softly" singer has officially checked out of the hospital, doctors are still running tests to figure out why she fell ill during the show at the historic Apollo Theater.
