President Ramaphosa has said that the creation of an enabling environment for investment included the effective management of the leadership transition in government; ushering in a new era of hope and confidence.

President Cyril Ramaphosa is on a working visit in London for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

Ramaphosa, who took office in February with promises to jump-start the economy and stamp out graft, expressed "grave concern" over unrest in North West province and reports of clashes between police and protesters, according to a statement published on the president's website Thursday. Many clinics have been forced to close and people have been directed to the Mahikeng Provincial Hospital‚ which is now overcrowded.

He will meet with provincial leaders of the ruling African National Congress on Friday, the party said in an e-mailed statement. Mahumapelo is a supporter of Jacob Zuma, who Ramaphosa ousted as the nation's president in February.

After meeting with local leaders in Mahikeng, Ramaphosa said he understood the public was concerned over the state premier and allegations of corruption. Ramaphosa has vowed to crack down on corruption and mismanagement after Zuma's scandal-plagued nine years in power. The International Monetary Fund also raised its 2018 growth forecast for South Africa to 1.5 percent.
