DOJ turns over redacted Comey memos to congressional committees

At the top of the first memo, Comey writes: "What follows are my notes I typed in the vehicle immediately upon exiting Trump Tower on 1/6/17".

In a press release to lawmakers, the Justice Division stated it had redacted categorised data within the memos, however would supply an unredacted model on Friday.

The memos also describe a dinner Comey and Trump had at the White House about a week after the inauguration, when Comey said Trump told him he expected loyalty from him.

Goodlatte, Gowdy, and Nunes also argued the memos showed Comey "was blind to biases within the Federal Bureau of Investigation and had bad judgment" regarding McCabe.

In their next solo meeting, at the end of a much larger briefing, president Trump discussed Mike Flynn, whom he had just fired, with Comey.

Some of the episodes have been recounted in Comey's congressional testimony previous year and in his new book, "A Higher Loyalty".

It's unclear why Putin would tell Trump that, or why Trump would tell Comey that, but one thing is clear. the GOP House members' request of Comey's memos is keeping the spotlight on the Russian Federation probe. However, he refused to make it clear that Trump was not being personally investigated during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in May 2017.

Shortly after Pergram began tweeting about the memos, the Associated Press also announced that they were in possession of the redacted documents.

During an earlier interview with CNN's Jake Tapper, Comey declined to say if he thinks Clinton would have been a better president than Trump, stating, "I can't answer that".

In Comey memos sent to CapHill, Comey says Trump discussed women "who falsely accused him of grabbing them or touching them".

Grassley, in January, pressed Rosenstein over whether or not the memo Comey shared with Richman contained categorised data.

Trump fired Comey in May 2017 while Comey was leading the FBI investigation into allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 USA presidential election and possible collusion between Trump's campaign and the Russians. He revealed a year ago that he had written the memos after conversations with Trump.

The Justice Department - after months of stalling - finally delivered those memos to Congress on Thursday after House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) was planning to subpoena them.

The chairmen were California Rep. Devin Nunes of the House Intelligence Committee, Virginia Rep.

They concluded: "Rather than making a criminal case for obstruction or interference with an ongoing investigation, these memos would be defense exhibit A should such a charge be made". The Justice Department asked for more time, and the lawmakers agreed.
