In a Tweet Thursday, Trump said that Blackburn "is a wonderful woman who has always been there when we have needed her". Trump added that she's great due to his vital issues of the boundary offense and protection and works for its people of Tennessee.

She's running for the Republican nomination for United States Senate.

Republicans hold a slim 51-49 benefit in the U.S. Senate. She will likely face former Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen (D.) in the fall.

Blackburn is a strong supporter of Trump, who carried 92 of 95 counties in Tennessee in 2016 en route to a landslide victory there over Hillary Clinton.

"Tennesseans from all walks of life support the President's work to cut taxes, rebuild the military, care for our veterans, and nominate conservative judges who won't legislate from the bench". Bredesen raised $3.2 million over that same period - but $1.4 million of that total came from a personal loan - and his campaign hasn't yet released its total cash on hand.

Democrats hope to take the seat this November.
