The Ocala Police Department, the Marion County Sheriff's Office, the Florida Highway Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are at the high school in central Florida. The injured student was taken to a local hospital.

Police say the suspected shooter is also a student at the school.

No other details were immediately available.

Authorities asked residents to avoid the area of Forest High School.

Students from more than 2,500 schools across the country will stream out of class Friday as part of a National School Walkout to demand action on gun reform. Instead, the school board will be reuniting students with their parents at the First Baptist Church of Ocala on Southeast Maricamp Road, the sheriff's office said. It's been more than two months after the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, where 17 students and teachers were killed.
