"Previously, women weren't even allowed to speak up about things like this".

Speaking to Dawn.com, Ms Shafi said that when the incident happened, the very first person she informed was her husband. Meesha's tweet has propelled a whole new movement against the actor-singer as more women, mostly female fans have come forward to share their stories of harassment. "Ultimately I am a strong believer that the truth prevails, always prevails".

Pakistani model Nadia Hussain said, "I think she (Shafi) has taken the right step but how will it culminate, what will be the end of this since Ali Zafar has also stepped forward and given a statement and wishes to take it further into the court".

Makeup artist Leena Ghani shared her story on Twitter too and wrote that while getting a selfie with Ali Zafar, she felt his hand going up her waist. "Meesha Shafi must have thought carefully about the consequences of her going public, particularly to her own career as well and her own reputation since women who do something like this in Pakistani society are often judged harshly". "This happened to me as a mother of two children!" "I feel betrayed by his behaviour and his attitude and I know I am not alone". I am a man that has stood up for myself, my family, my colleagues and friends countless times in the face of slander, defamation and general unkindness.

However Ali Zafar responded to the allegations, denying them clearly saying that he will not throw accusations around on social media and take this matter as professional and as serious as possible by taking Meesha Shafi to court. I have nothing to hide. She also played a small role in Farhan Akhtar's "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag". As Ali Zafar is a renowned actor/singer of both India and Pakistan film industry.

Mr Zafar is known widely for musical tracks like "Channo" and "Rockstar" along with roles in Bollywood films such as Tere Bin Laden and Kill Dil.
