Theron said it took a year and a half. However, the actress told Entertainment Tonight that getting paid to stuff her face with the tasty cheese dish and other junk food was far from a dream job. "I don't know her, but I know he has good taste so I wish them the best... and I'll be watching!"

The 42-year-old admitted, "My oldest can definitely get into a state pretty quickly".

No one is immune to Royal Wedding fever, not even Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron. "What's lovely about this film, it's unifying", she raved. But this time was a major challenge.

The South African-born star cited her high-calorie junk food diet as the reason behind her bad mood, claiming that "I was not that fun to be around on this film".

It didn't start out that way, though.

Charlize Theron certainly knows the trials and tribulations of being a mother, raising two children, August, 2, and Jackson, 6, on her own. "So it was fun to go and have breakfast at In-N-Out and have two milkshakes", she said.

'The first three weeks are always fun because you're just like a kid in a candy store. Stuffing her face started to feel like a chore, and it became so hard to maintain the weight she had already gained that she had to set her alarm so that she could wake up in the middle of the night and eat. "I would wake up and I would just eat it ..."

"I was like, 'This is taking a really long time.' Because on 'Monster, ' I just didn't snack for five days and I was fine. It's hard to maintain that weight".

While it took only three months to gain the weight, Theron says that shedding the kilos was "hell" and took much longer than anticipated.

Theron was recently in the Bay Area for a screening of "Tully" as part of the San Francisco Film Festival.

The celebrated star walked the red carpet at the premiere of her new dramedy, Tully, at Regal LA Live Stadium in Los Angeles on Wednesday, where she stopped to talk with ET's Kevin Frazier about the hotly anticipated nuptials. "I shared it with [the director] and I was like, 'This is a little too real for me.' And [my kids] still refer to this movie as the movie where mommy had a big belly".

Theron stars as an overwhelmed mother of three in the upcoming film.

. "And I think in the beginning everybody thought I was wearing, like, when the first photos came out, everyone (thought it) was, like, prosthetics".

Tully is set to hit theaters on May 4.
