Disregarding the fact that the widely anticipated fixture passed without much drama, the Red Devils got back at their opponents, remembering what happened in the reverse fixture.

City needed a win to secure a third Premier League title in seven years but despite roaring into a 2-0 half-time lead, United hit back to claim a 3-2 win and put their derby rivals' celebrations on ice.

But Pep Guardiola's men were stunned after the break to find a invigorated United that dismantled them in the most dramatic of circumstances.

And there was controversy after the game when City and United players clashed in the changing rooms which led to a now infamous tunnel melee.

At Old Trafford, United manager, Jose Mourinho had asked City to turn down their music and show more respect.

"Booked tables have you?"

The report also claims that the United players learned that City players had booked tables in restaurants all over Manchester in preparation for their title glory. "We'll take your f***ing tables" were among some of the comments directed at City players.

Paul Pogba revealed Michael Carrick instigated the move for players to have their pound of flesh.

Despite a week in which they missed the chance to win the league against Manchester United, and were knocked out of the Champions League by Liverpool, Manchester City are again on course for the greatest Premier League season of all time.
