The Turkish government will consider Leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Devlet Bahceli's proposal to hold early parliamentary and presidential elections in Turkey, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Bekir Bozdag said.

The leader of Turkey's nationalist party, Devlet Bahceli, said the elections scheduled for November 2019 should be brought forward.

Erdogan has moved to tighten his grip on politics since a failed coup attempt in 2016.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Bahceli are expected to meet at 13.30 p.m. (1030GMT) on Wednesday in Ankara, presumably to evaluate the prospect of early elections.

Turkey passed a referendum one year ago, which allows the country to shift from a parliamentary system to a presidential system.
