According to sources, Sengar has been changing his statements repeatedly during interrogation by CBI.

Shashi Singh allegedly took the victim to Sengar on the day of the crime. Sengar is a BJP MLA from Bangermau, Unnao.

Sources privy to the probe said that the girl was produced before a magistrate where she gave the statements about the incident which took place on June 4, 2017.

Within hours of taking over the investigation, the CBI brought Sengar, who had remained untouched by the state police, to its office in Lucknow, where he was questioned for almost 16 hours before being taken into custody. Neither the investigating officer bothered to send the clothes the girl was wearing when she was sexually assaulted by the three youths. Victim's mother has also alleged in the FIR filed in this case that Shashi singh was present at the spot when the incident happened.

The third case pertains to the allegations against the victim's father, who was arrested by the police under the Arms Act and put in jail, where he died.

A Bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A. M Khanwilkar and D.Y Chandrachud was also critical of the Jammu High Court Bar Association, which had passed a resolution not to attend the Courts saying "it is the duty of the Bar Association as a collective body and they can not obstruct the process of law".

Earlier this week, the Unnao case took a decisive turn, after the Allahabad High Court took cognisance of the case and berated the state government for not taking stern action against the accused, who had been roaming free till then. The agency earlier got Sengar's medical examination done here.

The central agency has registered a case against the arrested Commissioner of Income Tax.

Interestingly, what the UP police could not do in the past 10 months, the CBI virtually did in 10 hours-by arresting the accused.
